My foundational training has been in theatres supporting the creation of brand new plays. As a director, I have extensive work with community groups, youth theatres and drama schools. As a facilitator and dramaturg I have worked with first time writers and professional writers throughout their plays development. I have been a freelance script reader, supporting institutions to discover new talent for over five years.

Dramaturgy
Dramaturgy is the heart of my theatre practice. I have supported playwrights through starting, writing and redrafting their work. I do this through considerate readings, note-giving meetings and R&D. I can do this as a one-off or over a substantial amount of time, with regular meetings for more focused work. I always tailor my approach to the writers specific needs for their play’s development.

Script Reading
I have been a script reader for 5 years, reading for a number of theatres and projects. I provide succinct, clear feedback and reports to Literary and Artistic teams. I am responsible for next-steps decisions on scripts. I attend script meetings to discuss work in more detail with artistic teams.

Directing
As a Director I work predominantly with new writing. Much of my practice has been explored through scratch nights, such as Theatre503s prestigious Rapid Write Response. I have also been Resident Director at the North Wall where I run R&Ds for new work. I offer Dramaturgical insight when directing approaching with both actors and playwrights in mind. I have directed youth theatres and drama schools as well as professional actors.
